Welcome to Catalina Kids Snorkeling Adventures, where we offer private guided snorkel tours specifically designed for kids aged 5-12 (exceptions may apply) in the beautiful Lover's Cove on Catalina Island, California. Our mission is to provide an unforgettable and educational underwater experience, fostering a love for marine life and ocean conservation.

Frequently asked questions

We've gathered answers to the most common questions about our kids' snorkeling tours. Our goal is to make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible, from booking to diving into the crystal-clear waters of Lover's Cove.

What are the three most common questions parents ask you about the snorkeling tours?

Does my child need to know how to swim?

Yes.  Although we provide flotation devices, it is still required that they can swim and that they are comfortable putting their face in the water.

How long is the tour?

The whole experience is about 1 hour and 15 minutes.  This allows time to sign waivers, get suited up, learn about kelpforests and of course time in the water.  

Cancellations:

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your tour for a full refund.  You can do this on our booking site. If you need to cancel within 24 hours you may be charged the full price of the tour..  Please call or text 310-938-1290 for same day cancellations.

  • For everyone's safety your tour may be cancelled due to weather conditions like high surf or strong winds.  This is up to the discretion of the owner and guide.

Can adults participate?

I am in the process of growing this business so unfortunately at this time I only have equipment that fits kids. If parents have their own gear they may join the tour for $25 if there is space available.  Please email snorkelingforkids@gmail to check availability.

  • Adult reservations my only be made by phone or email at least 24 hours before your tour and are at the disceretion of the guide.
  • You may be charged the full cost of the tour if you make an online  reservation for an adult.

What should families do to get ready for their snorkeling adventure with you?

MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS THEIR BATHING SUIT ON BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE COVE.

  • There are no changing rooms or bathrooms at Lover's Cove. The closest ones are at the ferry terminal, five minutes away, so if needed you canuse those to change.

Parents or a Guardian at least 18 years will need to sign a waiver for each child when you arrive at the Cove.  

AT LEAST 1 PARENT OR GUARDIAN OVER THE AGE OF 18 MUST STAY FOR TH DURATION OF THE TOUR. 

  • There are picnic tables and there is some seating near the water.  

What to bring:

Bring a towel, water, and a sense of adventure. I recommend NOT putting sunscreen on right before snorkeling.  It may get into their eyes with a mask on. 

 

What can kids and parents expect to see and learn during the tour?

What will we see?

Lover's Cove has a very abundant amount of fish, kelp and other sea life.  Glass Bottom boats have been feeding fish here for decades so there are a lot of fish to see.  We may also see things like lobster, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, abalone, rays and more.
